Farnham’s formal Remembrance Sunday parade, which is organised by the Royal British Legion, takes place on Sunday 13 November.

The Mayor of Farnham, Councillor John Ward, and local dignitaries will assemble at the refurbished War Memorial in Gostrey Meadow for a service at 10.45am. All members of the local community are invited to attend.

There will be a two-minute silence at 11am and Steve Burgess, a bugler from Alder Valley Brass Band will play the Last Post and Reveille. An Irish military piper is also expected to play a lament. The Mayor, guests and members of the public will be invited to lay wreaths.

The service will be followed by a parade, which will include representatives of the Farnham-based Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment, members of the armed forces, uniformed services and local Scout and Guide groups. The parade will end at St. Andrew’s church for a service at 11.30am.

“It’s important that we come together as a community at this time of year to remember those who have lost their lives serving in our armed forces and to think about those still serving today. I hope as many people as possible will join us at the services at Gostrey Meadow and St. Andrew’s Church and to watch the parade,” says Councillor John Ward, the Mayor of Farnham.

Other Remembrance services taking place around Farnham include at the war memorials at Badshot Lea, Hale, Rowledge, St. Thomas on the Bourne, St. Peter’s at Wrecclesham and Weybourne.
