About Cllr Carole Cockburn

I became a councillor like most people – by accident! However, I do believe that you should not criticise, unless you are prepared to put some work in yourself.

The family moved to Farnham in 1988. My daughter and son-in-law live in the town. They have two boys at South Farnham School. My son and his fiancée are hoping to buy a house in Farnham this year and my mother-in-law also lives locally.

I was a teacher of languages and have taught in every type of school possible. Many of my interests relate to my university studies, as I developed a love of European literature, film and theatre, which has never left me. I also love gardening, although rarely have time to do much.

I love Farnham – the people, the shops, the green setting, the architecture, the distinctive areas of the town. It all adds up to a terrific place to bring up children and a delightful place in which to enjoy an active retirement.

I am on a number of Working Groups including Strategy and Finance, Planning and Licensing, Cemeteries and Appeals, Community Enhancement and Tourism and Events.
