Taking on an allotment can be both challenging and rewarding. Many new allotment holders find that they quickly develop new skills and knowledge and see the development of their allotment as part of a positive lifestyle choice. However, an allotment is a commitment so you should consider whether you have a regular amount of time that you can commit each week to work the plot. Working full time or having other commitments need to be taken into account. We recommend visiting your plot at least twice a week (around eight hours in total) to stay on top of weeding and other jobs.

Allotment charges

Prices of allotment plots vary dependent upon size but an average plot is £60.50 per year.

New allotment holders are subject to a one-off £50 administration fee.

New allotment holders must also agree as part of their tenancy to pay an annual £2 fee for third party insurance cover which is arranged by the Town Council.

New allotment holders who live outside of Farnham will pay a different amount and will be notified upon application.
