Farnham no-interest loan scheme
A no-interest loan scheme has been launched in Farnham to help with the ongoing financial crisis and to complement the work of the Farnham Support Fund.
Funded by Farnham Town Council and administered by Boom Community Bank, this scheme offers vital financial support to residents lacking access to conventional credit. The no-interest loan scheme is designed to ease immediate financial burdens and enhance community financial resilience.
Loans of between £300 and £1,500 are available to residents for expenses such as:
- Furniture
- Appliances
- Educational resources
- Car repairs and MOT
- Eyecare
- Dental
- Season tickets, and
- Other essentials.

The Surrey Crisis Fund is available for Surrey residents who have nowhere else to turn in an emergency or following a disaster.
Household Support Fund
Grants of up to £550 are available to households that need help with the cost of essentials.
Applications are being processed by Waverley Borough Council. The fund will close on 30 September 2024, or when all funds have been spent, whichever is earlier.

Farnham Support Fund
The Farnham Support Fund, aims to provide financial support or assistance to individuals and families in Farnham who find themselves facing difficult circumstances due to financial pressures.
What help is available
Applications for up to £350 are invited from Farnham residents who need urgent assistance with essentials such as:
- Paying for gas or electric
- School uniform and shoes
- Replacing an essential household appliance such as a cooker
- Acquiring equipment eg wheelchair, care alarm service etc
- Getting furniture and household items like a bed and bedding
- Other urgent needs.
Other grants plus advice and support is available from our partner organisations.
How to apply
You can apply to the Farnham Support Fund online or you can print off the application form and post it to:

Your application will need to be supported by a referee such as a headteacher, GP, social worker or health visitor.
They will need to know about your situation as we will contact them, so they should be able to confirm the details of your request for help.

How applications are assessed
Your application will be assessed by a panel of people who represent the organisations that originally contributed to the Farnham Support Fund.
We usually expect to tell you the outcome of your application within two weeks of you applying.
Information for referees
To be considered, applications generally need to be supported by a referee such as a social worker, GP, home school link worker, headteacher, health visitor, nurse or applicable voluntary organisations.
If you are asked to be a referee, thank you for your support. You will need to:
- Be able to confirm the applicant’s situation
- Provide a covering letter or email
- Give your name, occupation and contact details so we can contact you to verify information.
How to donate
The Farnham Support Fund was initially set up in response to the coronavirus pandemic. It is now helping people with the cost of living crisis. A number of organisations donated an initial £22,000 towards its creation and others have since given contributions.

All money donated will be added to the appeal fund and for audit purposes, strict records will be kept of all donations and payments made.
The Farnham Support Fund was created as a collaboration between:
