A flowers and fizz reception has been held to thank everybody who has been involved in Farnham in Bloom over the past 25 years.
Gold sponsor in kind, Squire’s Garden Centre hosted the event for founder members, community groups, volunteers, sponsors and others who have helped over the years. Guests enjoyed a welcoming glass of ice cold fizz and a selection of tasty canapés while wandering around Squire’s outside plant area or testing their knowledge at the plant identification table. Musical entertainment was provided by Grandpa Spells Jazz Band and card tricks by Red Hat Magic.
Councillor Pat Frost, Mayor of Farnham said: “The evening was delightful. Squire’s Garden Centre was the perfect setting for celebrating 25 years of Farnham in Bloom. It was lovely to hear original members sharing their memories and to be reminded how Farnham in Bloom has evolved over 25 years.
“I would like to give my sincere thanks to all those who have sponsored Farnham in Bloom including BBS Ltd our corporate sponsor for 2015. Without the support of our sponsors the town would not look quite so impressive. I would also like to pay tribute to the many volunteers who give their time to Farnham in Bloom. In the past five years the hours donated have risen from 1,000 to 11,000 which is a remarkable achievement.”
The evening concluded with a Gardeners’ Question Time. This was an opportunity for guests to quiz a panel of experts and to receive advice about a range of horticultural challenges.
Farnham in Bloom is a year-round project. Anybody who would like to get involved by sponsoring a hanging basket or volunteering a few hours of time, should email Lara Prior or call her on 01252 72667.
