A project to build a community garden at Potters Gate School has been supported by Farnham Town Council with a £500 community grant.

The school children and local community will maintain the garden, which will include a story-telling area, musical zone, fruit and vegetable beds and a large herb garden. The community grant will be used to buy a storytelling chair and toadstools and log rounds for the children to sit on when they are listening to stories.

Councillor Mrs Pat Frost, Mayor of Farnham presented the cheque and says: “I am pleased that we have been able to support this project to build an outdoor classroom. It will provide a different type of learning environment for the children and will enable them to learn new skills and to learn about wildlife.”

Cleo Dobbs who is the volunteer coordinator of the project says: “The aim of the project has been to provide a beautiful learning resource for the children. This has been a fantastic project that has involved the whole school. We would like to thank everyone who has helped or contributed their time and/or money to the Little Green Fingers project.”

Community grants of up to £2,000 are available for initiatives that promote the environment and/or community life for residents who live in the Farnham Town Council area. For more information visit our grants page.
