A celebration will be held on Wednesday 27 May to mark the launch of the twenty-fifth year of Farnham in Bloom, which will be sponsored by BBS Ltd supplier of MagiMix products.
Sponsors, members of the community group and town councillors will join the newly elected Mayor of Farnham at West Street greenhouses at 2pm. The greenhouses will also be open to members of the public from 2-4pm.
Guests will be treated to a behind the scenes preview of the plants and hanging baskets that will soon make an appearance around Farnham and the villages. Sixteen local schools have taken part in planting many of the hanging baskets along with young adults from the organisation Post 19.
Councillor Jeremy Ricketts, Mayor of Farnham 2014/15 says: “This is a very special year for Farnham in Bloom and we are delighted that Farnham-based BBS Ltd has agreed to be the corporate sponsor. In keeping with our silver anniversary, this year’s planting will include a silver-themed carpet bed in Gostrey Meadow and each of the main town centre roads will be decorated in a riot of tasteful colours. This year we have chosen pink and white flowers for South Street, red and white for West Street, yellow and orange for Union Road and Downing Street, a palate of mixed bright colours for The Borough and pastels for The Woolmead. I think our residents and visitors will find the flowers very uplifting and enjoyable.”
The hanging baskets and containers will start to make an appearance around the town and surrounding villages from early June.
See the Farnham in Bloom pages for more information and opportunities to get involved.
