Farnham Town Council has renewed its commitment to supporting younger people in Farnham by making funding available for free school holiday activities.
This is the second year running that the council has provided grants for this highly popular initiative. The purpose is to ensure younger people, particularly those from families that are struggling financially, have access to engaging and fun activities during school breaks.
Councillor Grahm White, Leader of Farnham Town Council says: “Supporting younger people is a priority for this council. Last year, the funding successfully benefited hundreds of young people across Farnham, helping them stay active, occupied, and safe during the school holidays.”
In 2024/25, local organisations were awarded grants totalling £20,000 to run a wide range of activities, from sports and arts to educational workshops. Among the beneficiaries were 40 Degreez, Hale Community Centre, The Chantrys and Bethel Baptist Church. In February half term, the Rural Life Living Museum at Tilford ran free Inventors and Makers workshops which included science-related activities, trails and arts and crafts.
Community organisations have until 12 noon on 17 March to submit their grant application. One-off events will not be funded, and applications should not exceed £4,000.
