Fifteen years after the first Food and Drink Festival was held in Farnham, the community has shown it still has a huge appetite for this annual event. 

Throughout the day, thousands of people are estimated to have visited Sunday’s Food and Drink Festival which is organised by Farnham Town Council. 

One of the main highlights of the festival was the food theatre which attracted dozens of people curious to learn tips from expert chefs. The Emmy-nominated chef and food writer Ching-He Huang created a stir as she demonstrated how to cook one of the recipes from her latest book Wok For Less. Fans of her cooking were also able to bag themselves a signed copy of her book. 

Festival sponsor, the Bush Hotel was at the heart of proceedings with its Drinks Demonstration stage set in its beautiful courtyard off The Borough. Visitors enjoyed a menu of cocktails, craft beers and new wines whilst listening to live music. 

Councillor Kika Mirylees, Lead Member for Community and Culture said: “I want to thank the festival sponsors Kidd Rapinet, the Bush Hotel and The Gorge. It is because of their support that we were able to put on an event that thousands of people chose as the perfect way to spend their Sunday.

“As always, the chili eating competition caused a stir and the live music and the Farnham Taiko Drummers completed the day’s party atmosphere.” 

Farnham Town Council’s next major community events are the Remembrance Sunday parade on 10 November and the switching on of the Christmas lights on 16 November. More details can be found at www.farnham.gov.uk.
