Inspiring nature’s future caretakers

Group of adults and children.

‘Children have been learning about the fundamentals of gardening at an Easter Bloomin’ Kids’ workshop.

Farnham Town Council and volunteers from Farnham in Bloom led a programme that included interactive demonstrations showing how to plant onions and peas and guided activities such as making seed bombs and painting stones.

Children ranging in age from 2 to 14 rolled up their sleeves and got their hands dirty as they learnt how to plant, water, weed and care for plants.

Councillor Mat Brown, Lead Member for the Environment says: “We are committed to Farnham’s future and that means investing in our younger people so they foster a deeper connection with nature. I would like to thank the volunteers who helped to run the workshops because I believe that by teaching children gardening skills, we not only empower them to lead healthier lives but hopefully, we also instil a sense of environmental responsibility that they will carry into adulthood.”

Bloomin Kids Gardening Workshops took place at Badshot Lea and Hale. The workshops were free to attend and both were fully booked.
