The Sunday Times Best Places to Live 2024 guide is out and Farnham is the only Surrey town to be named in the list of top ten best places to live in the south east and is the best in Surrey.

Farnham and 71 other locations across the UK were visited by judges who assessed factors from schools to transport, broadband speeds to culture, as well as access to green spaces and the health of the high street. The judges described Farnham as having ‘a vibrant and creative community with a rich heritage and great schools, all set in the rolling Surrey hills’. The castle, Georgian streets and World Craft Town status also received a mention.

Councillor Graham White, Co-Leader of Farnham Town Council said: “I am thrilled but not surprised that Farnham has again made it onto the top ten best places to live in the south east. It is a vibrant community where great things happen. We have an impressive programme of events which are supported by an incredible number of volunteers. The town is well known for Farnham in Bloom which lifts the spirit of residents and visitors alike. As England’s first World Craft town, Farnham celebrates a rich tradition of craft and heritage. Come to Farnham and see what there is to offer.”

Folkestone in Kent was chosen as the number one place to live in the south east. In addition to Farnham, the remaining places in the top ten went to: Chorleywood, Hove, Milton Keynes, St Albans, Sevenoaks, Stockbridge, Wadhurst and Winchester.
