Location

Oxfam Books & Music

Farnham World Craft Town’s first artist in residence will give a talk about her work at the Oxfam Bookshop in The Borough.

Fiona Byrne is a glass artist from Ireland. During her one-month residency, she will divide her time between a studio at the Farnham Maltings and the glass studios at the University for the Creative Arts (UCA).

As a permanent record of her residency, Fiona has been commissioned to make a piece of art which reflects the craft ethos of Farnham. Contributing to the project will be 8-10 makers who will spend a day with Fiona making a series of tiles which will inspire the final piece.

Councillor Alan Earwaker, Mayor of Farnham says: “It is a privilege to welcome Fiona Byrne to Farnham. While here, she is going to give a series of talks to students and local creatives which will provide an opportunity to share skills and knowledge and contribute to the professional development of local artists. In return, Fiona will get to work on her craft in a new environment and will have special access to the first class, hot glass facilities at UCA. We are delighted she accepted the invitation to be Farnham World Craft Town’s first artist in residence.”

Space is limited so tickets will be available from the shop for £4 with all proceeds going to Oxfam.
