Farnham’s official countdown to Christmas begins on Saturday 18 November with the switching on of the town’s Christmas lights.

Starting at 1pm, there will be free live entertainment at Gostrey Meadow with performances from local schools, theatre groups and local bands. 

Councillor Kika Mirylees, Lead Member for Community says: “We have a magical afternoon lined up for the lead up to the big Christmas lights’ switch-on. Younger members of the community will be able to enjoy fairground rides, face painting, a live nativity scene and a craft table. Santa Claus will be in his cosy grotto, and he’ll have a free gift for every child who visits.

“For Christmas shoppers, I highly recommend browsing the stalls which we have handpicked specially for the occasion. If you find yourself in need of sustenance, stop by at one of the refreshment stalls for a delicious bite to eat and a warming drink.”

The moment everyone will have been waiting for will arrive at 4.30pm when this year’s special guest will have the honour of flipping the switch and lighting up Farnham for Christmas.
