Grayshott Folk Club presents: HONEY & THE BEAR + FRIENDS

In May 2022, after many disappointments and re-arranged dates (owing to lockdowns etc.,), we finally welcomed Honey & The Bear + Friends to Grayshott Folk Club for the first time. It was well worth the wait…they put on a royally entertaining show and we are delighted they have agreed to come back and play for us again.

Honey & The Bear are married couple Jon & Lucy Hart. This British Folk and Roots duo combine delicately interweaving vocal harmonies with emotive and evocative song writing. With a diverse range of sounds, textures, and rhythms that flow from the fast and furious to gentle ballads, their live performances are spirited and dynamic. Conjuring stories in song, they tell tales of Suffolk folklore, courageous people they admire and their passion for nature. They have been enchanting audiences up and down the country for many years and this Summer, played at several prestigious Folk festivals, all over the British Isles.

This multi-instrumentalist pair, is made up song writers Jon Hart (guitar, bass, bouzouki) and Lucy Hart (guitar, ukulele, bass, banjo, mandolin & percussion). For this special performance, they will be joined again on-stage by band guests and good friends Evan Carson (percussion) and Toby Shaer (Fiddle/Flutes/Whistles) who also feature on both of Honey & The Bear’s studio albums.

Honey & The Bear supported Sam Kelly & The Lost Boys on two UK tours and opened for The Shires at the World-renowned Snape Maltings Concert Hall. They returned to Snape Maltings as headliners just two years later to perform their own, sold out show.

By the time they play for us in November, they hope to have recorded a brand new album, which is the third in a trilogy. The first was “Made In The Aker”, the second “Journey Through The Roke” and the new one, called “Away, Beyond The Fret”, is bound to be another exquisite and highly-polished gem and we look forward to listening to new songs from it, as well as some older favourites….. Come and Join us.

“These songs – all written by the pair – quickly get into your head. Their voices blend well together and there’s a high standard of musicianship, with their playing complemented by members of Sam Kelly’s Lost Boys.” Fiona Clark – Folk London
