Farnham Food Month launched

Food Month in Farnham is underway following its official launch at the Bush Hotel on 1 September. The organisers, Farnham Town Council, invited sponsors and special guests to a reception of homemade cakes in anticipation of the month of activities dedicated to celebrating local produce, culinary talent and Farnham’s food and drink related businesses.

Farnham Veterinary Hospital is one of the three gold sponsors, along with the Bush Hotel and Kidd Rapinet Solicitors. Kevin Clayton from the veterinary hospital said: “Food Month offers lots for local people to enjoy throughout September and we are proud to support it. We had a great time at last year’s festival and are really looking forward to meeting people at this year’s festival. Please come and visit our stall at the festival.”

Carol Radlett from the Bush Hotel said: “Farnham Food Month puts Farnham on the map as a place for exciting food and drink experiences and high-quality hospitality businesses. As a gold sponsor, it’s been great to join forces with Farnham Town Council and fellow sponsors to promote Farnham as a place where locals can find excellent food and drink to enjoy at home or in a great meal out and where visitors are spoilt for choice for places to eat, drink and stay.”

As organisers, Farnham Town Council aims to use the month to support the many independent food and drink related businesses that have made Farnham and surrounding villages their home.

As well as an enviable choice of cafes, pubs and restaurants, Farnham also has successful brewers and specialist producers. Businesses range from microbusinesses such as cake decorators to established hotels serving an international clientele.

Food month began with the Sausage and Cider Festival which was organised by Farnham Lions and supported by Farnham Town Council. The gastro month will continue with the Gin and Fizz Festival (17 September), the Farnham Farmers’ Market and the Food and Drink Festival, both on 25 September.

Tickets for the Gin Festival are selling fast but are still available from www.farnham.gov.uk/gin-festival.
