Be part of the local conversation at the Annual Town Meeting

At the Annual Town Meeting of electors (31 March), people living in Farnham will have the opportunity to ask elected councillors their burning questions about how taxpayers’ money is spent, progress on Town Council services and plans for future activities.

“Our Annual Town Meeting is a key part of local democracy where we hope to see as many residents as we can safely fit in the venue. As town councillors we are accountable to our residents, the people who elected us. We welcome their questions about the services we provide, how we represent the town, our plans for the next few years and anything else about how the Town Council operates,” says the Mayor of Farnham, Councillor Alan Earwaker who will chair the meeting. “The important thing is to come along and be part of the local conversation.”

At the meeting, Farnham’s town councillors will provide updates on the council’s spending and services over the past year. A key aim of the event is to provide an open and accessible way for local people to make comments or ask questions about the issues they care about in Farnham.

“No question is too awkward,” says the Mayor. “If we are asked about something that falls outside of the council’s remit, we will do our best to give an answer there and then or follow up with the relevant organisation.”

To attend the meeting which is being held in the Barley Room at the Farnham Maltings, residents should register their interest with the Farnham Town Council by emailing customer.services@farnham.gov.uk or calling 01252 712667. The meeting starts at 7pm.

Farnham Town Council’s services include responding to planning applications that affect the locality, maintaining outdoor areas including selected parks, organising community events, allotments and cemeteries, and contributing to how facilities such as benches, public toilets and bins are provided or maintained.
