The first Farnham Venison Dinner took place in 1605, and was held in an attempt by the Bailiffs and Burgesses to stop townsfolk from poaching deer from Farnham Park.
In keeping with tradition the chef, accompanied by a piper, will bring the venison into the dining room. The venison will be presented to the Mayor of Farnham, who will carve the first slice.
