Bookings now open for community festival

Plant stall and marquees in a park area

Farnham Community Farm and Farnham Town Council are bringing businesses, charities, musicians, artisans together with the wider community for the Farnham Sustainability Festival on Sunday 23 May (11am to 4pm) in Gostrey Meadow.

Entrance is free but registration is essential. Visit www.farnham.gov.uk/sustainabilityfestival to book your two-hour slot.

Julia Davidson from Farnham Community Farm explains: “At the Sustainability Festival we will have dozens of stalls plus live music and talks about sustainable living – all in a COVID-secure environment. The festival is about celebrating and enabling a more sustainable way of life for our planet, our communities, our health and our wellbeing.”

Small businesses, food and drink producers, charities, artisans and local organisations – all with a passion for sustainability – will come together to show how to live more sustainably, why it is important and the difference decisions at individual, household and community level can make.

Councillor Alan Earwaker, Lead Member for Tourism and Events says: “Residents tell us that they are concerned about issues such as plastics and climate change and they want to do more to make Farnham a more environmentally sustainable place to live and work. But they don’t always know where to start. If you are thinking about going plastic-free, finding a green home energy supplier, cutting your food miles, supporting local wildlife or even changing to an electric car, you can find out about these and lots of other sustainable choices at the festival.”

A full list of stallholders who have so far signed up to take part can be found at www.farnham.gov.uk/sustainabilityfestival and information about the talks, stalls and the yoga/wellbeing sessions can be seen at Farnham Community Farm’s Facebook page at https://fb.me/e/YKLsLoOt.

Residents can find out how local companies are doing business in a more environmentally sustainable way and Farnham Town Council and Farnham Community Farm will be on hand to talk about changes they are making to improve sustainability in the local area.
