The return of Music in the Meadow on Sunday showed that it is still possible to socially distance and have fun.

The event was organised by Farnham Town Council and saw people sitting in spray painted bubbles for groups of up to 2, 4 or 6 people. The A Train covers band played a mellow playlist of material from Fleetwood Mac, Bob Marley and other well-known artists.

A charity tea tent hosted by the Lions Club of Farnham and an ice cream van were welcome additions to the afternoon’s entertainment.

Councillor Alan Earwaker, Lead Member for Tourism and Events said: “It was so wonderful to see the return of Music in the Meadow and to see people relaxed and having fun at this very well-organised event.

“This first concert was fully booked, and the bubbles worked well with people keeping within the space they had been allocated. Everyone has said how much they enjoyed the afternoon, and many have already booked for this Sunday’s concert.”

To comply with government guidelines which aim to make the event COVID secure, only people who had pre-booked a bubble could attend the concert. Ticket holders were channelled through one entrance so that contact details could be collected.

The next concert is from 3-5pm on 9 August and the music will be played by the internationally renowned UK based tribute act ‘The Briefcase Blues Brothers’.
