Children across Farnham have risen to Farnham Town Council’s lockdown challenge to create a garden from Lego.

The competition is one of several new initiatives aimed at getting the community involved in this year’s Farnham in Bloom and attracted over 45 entries.

Councillor Sally Dickson, Lead Member for Farnham in Bloom says: “I’d like to say a big thank you to everybody who took part – we were delighted to receive so many entries. We had the lovely task of creating a short list of entries and then asked our sponsor Chris Chittock from Pivot SAP Consultancy to choose the winners.”

Judge Chris says: “The standard of entry was extremely high, and there were some fantastic and very imaginative designs. I think it is safe to say that we have some budding garden designers in Farnham!”

After much deliberation, first prize was awarded to seven-year-old Annabelle from Weybourne. She was praised for the overall layout of her garden, her creativity and use of scale and colour.

Second prize went to four-year-old Noah and two-year-old Joshua. The brothers used Duplo bricks to create a large-scale garden and a very impressive rainbow.

The final prize was awarded to Simon aged ten who showed his experience as a Lego builder by including some wonderful details such as a hosepipe and telescope.

Thanks to sponsorship from Farnham-based Pivot, the children received a Farnham Town Council goody bag and Lego book and Annabelle received a Lego trophy.
