The secrets of a great brunch dish will be revealed by The Wheatsheaf Pub & Grill’s head chef at Farnham’s Food Festival on Saturday 27 September.

Jay Williams will take to the food stage at 11am to demonstrate his skills in the kitchen. Jay will conjure up a rustic and hearty style brunch that is sure to be a firm favourite with his audience. He will also share some ideas for delicious brunch refreshments.

The Wheatsheaf Pub & Grill is gold sponsor of this year’s Feast of Food and Food Festival, which are organised by Farnham Town Council. They pride themselves on their classic British dishes and use of seasonal local ingredients, which are values that complement the ethos of Farnham’s Feast of Food.

Councillor Jill Hargreaves, Lead Member for Tourism and Events says: “Chef Jay is no stranger to being watched while he works. The Wheatsheaf has an open kitchen so diners can watch the chefs in action as they prepare the food. I enjoy a lovely leisurely brunch so I’m looking forward to picking up some new ideas.”

Jay Williams has spent his whole career in the kitchen. He joined Red Mist Leisure in 2012 as a sous chef at The Duke of Cambridge before being promoted to Head Chef at The Wheatsheaf Pub and Grill, which opened its doors in 2013 after a major refurbishment.

As well as Jay, seven other local chefs will demonstrate dishes ranging from gourmet marshmallows to how to make a light and healthy Thai dish.

Farnham’s Feast of Food begins on Friday 12 September with a traditional Italian food market. The market will set up in Castle Street between 9am and 4pm and will sell fresh produce from Italy including authentic cheeses, pastas, oils and bread. The Food Fortnight will see 14 pubs and restaurants offering diners a special one-off menu on selected days during the fortnight. The food extravaganza will conclude with the popular Feast of Food, which will include over 70 stalls selling food followed by the monthly Farmers’ Market on Sunday 28 September.
