Christmas treats at Market

Bottles of chilli oil and jars of chilli sauce.

There is one place at the very heart of Farnham selling items for your Christmas Dinner, all sourced within 50 miles of Farnham – and it’s not a supermarket.

Farnham Farmers’ Market takes place on Sunday 23 December from 10am to 1.30pm in Central car park, Farnham. “This month’s market will have not only all the meat, sweet treats, breads and dairy produce you might expect to see on your festive table, Christmas decorations, gifts and drinks will also be available in abundance,” says Councillor Jill Hargreaves, Lead Member for Tourism and Events.

She continues: “To attend the farmers’ market, stallholders must only sell items that have been grown, raised, caught, baked, pickled, processed or made with a 50-mile radius of the town. That means your Christmas food will have travelled far fewer miles than many of the comparative supermarket items and makes it easy for you to eat with the seasons. With the market taking place just two days before the big day, shopping at the market is convenient for Christmas this year and your food will be super-fresh.”

Farnham Local Food will provide tea and coffee at the charity tea tent and Kai Jansen will play some festive background music on his guitar.

The market is a regular fixture in Farnham and takes place in Central car park, off Victoria Road on the fourth Sunday of the month.
