Food to tickle your tastebuds!

Garlands of Christmas decorations made from dried oranges

Farmers and producers are encouraging shoppers to plan ahead and preorder items for their Christmas feast at this month’s Farmers’ Market on Sunday 25 November.

Stallholders will be selling and taking orders for a range of Christmas essentials and tasty treats ranging from meat and smoked fish to sauces, baked goods and gin!

Shoppers will be able to collect their order and buy any additional last-minute items from the market on Sunday 23 December.

Councillor Jill Hargreaves, Lead Member for Tourism and Events says: “The beauty of the Farmers’ Market is that as well as everyday items, you can also pick up lots of little luxuries that you may well only buy at special occasions such as Christmas.

“The Market also offers inspiration for gift ideas. Producers and makers will be selling a wide range of locally produced gift items or you could put together a sumptuous hamper consisting of food and drink items that you just cannot buy in the supermarket.”

Returning to the November market is Ian Loynes from Nonsuch Shrooms. Ian sells mushrooms that have been grown on recycled coffee and straw at his farm in Sutton. The coffee granules are supplied by the local coffee shops in Sutton. The farm is indoor and outdoor so the mushrooms are available all year round.

Local charities Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice and Surrey Wildlife will also be at the market and the charity tea tent will be run by Farnham ASSIST.

The Farmers’ Market is held every month from 10am to 1.30pm in Central car park.
