Festival brings out the crowds

Crowd of people sitting on grass clapping and looking happy.

Summer temperatures saw thousands of people heading along to Farnham Town Council’s Spring Festival on Sunday (27 May).

The free event which was sponsored by Kidd Rapinet Solicitors, Trueman and Grundy and Momo Station included a programme of activity suitable for the whole family. There was sumo wrestling and Japanese drumming for the energetic, pop up craft for those who wanted to be creative, plenty of stalls for shoppers to browse and food and drink for the adults. Alongside the activities, live music was played throughout the whole afternoon.

Councillor Jill Hargreaves, Lead Member for Tourism and Events says: “The Spring Festival was a great success and was a wonderful start to our summer programme of events.

“While the hotter than average temperatures led to most people reaching for their sunscreen, Farnham Town Clerk, Iain Lynch was left scrabbling for his towel after receiving a drenching in the charity stocks – I suspect the scouts raised quite a lot of money as there appeared to be quite a queue of people wanting to have a go!”

The next community event in the Farnham calendar is Dance in the Meadow on 3 June which will be followed by Music in the Meadow on every Sunday afternoon until early September. Picnic in the Park will be on Sunday 1 July. For full details about what is happening in Farnham visit our events calendar.
