The warmer weather and the launch of Farnham in Bloom has seen Farnham Town Council’s outside services team stepping up its spring programme of work.

Among the first jobs to be tackled are grass cutting at the cemeteries and the planting up of hanging baskets and containers.

Iain Lynch, Town Clerk at Farnham Town Council says: “Just as those of us at home have been out mowing our lawns and trying to brighten up our gardens with some spring planting, our outside services team has been getting our public spaces in tip top condition after the very long winter.”

The team covers a large area and carries out a diverse range of tasks, requiring a breadth of skills and knowledge. For example, to encourage more wildlife, they have planted a wildflower meadow at Hickley’s Corner, West Street cemetery and Dogflud Way in addition to the more traditional planting schemes that can be seen in the town centre and surrounding villages.

Iain Lynch adds: “The team makes an important contribution to Farnham in Bloom so you can expect to see them a lot in the coming months now that we have officially launched 2018’s In Bloom activities. They have a new smart black uniform which is branded with the Town Council logo so they are easy to spot – if you see them, do say ‘hello’ and have a chat with them about their work looking after Farnham – they will be glad to talk about what they are doing.”
