The final Music in the Vineyard for 2018 promises to be popular as Farnham Big Band performs an afternoon concert at the Vineyard Church, Union Road, Farnham from 3-5pm on Sunday 25 March.

“If there are any winter blues or cobwebs to be blown away, Farnham Big Band is sure to do the trick!” says Councillor Jill Hargreaves, Lead Member for Tourism and Events. “They will treat us to lively big band sounds of the 1930s right up to present day plus familiar jazz, swing and Latin American numbers. This is our third and final Music in the Vineyard for 2018; the shows so far have been excellent and it is a free afternoon with refreshments on sale in support of the Woodlarks Centre so do come along. The performance follows the Farmers’ Market so why not pick up some snacks and bring them along for your own indoor picnic.”

Music in the Vineyard is a programme of free live music events organised by Farnham Town Council. Each month, a different local band performs music in the Vineyard Church and a local charity provides refreshments, including homemade cakes, to raise funds.

This month, the Mayor of Farnham’s chosen charity, the Woodlarks Centre, is hosting the refreshment stall. Hot drinks, homemade cakes and savouries will be on sale to raise money for the centre which is based in Farnham and provides fun and stimulating activities for people with disabilities.

The March Farmers’ Market also takes place on 25 March and is held as usual in Central car park from 10am to 1.30pm. Among this month’s produce there will be the very best of local organic meat, cheeses and baked goods. Stall holders also sell ready-prepared and homemade goods such as jams and preserves, fruit juice, muesli and handcrafted non-food items.

Farnham Town Council organises Music in the Vineyard to provide a free event for local residents over the winter and early spring months and to bring people into the town centre at what can otherwise be a quiet time of year for high street shops and restaurants.

All the performances in this year’s Music in the Vineyard programme have featured local bands. Vic Cracknell’s Swing Band and Surrey-based 60s band, Out of the Shadows have performed in the past two shows.
