Surrey-based 60s music act, Out of the Shadows, has been announced as the launch act for this year’s Music in the Vineyard, which takes place from 3-5pm on the last Sunday of each month until March. Out of the Shadows will perform on Sunday 28 January.
Music in the Vineyard is a free programme of live music organised by Farnham Town Council and held in Farnham’s Vineyard Church, Union Road, courtesy of the Vineyard Church. Out of the Shadows is a highly polished band who will perform classics from the 60s such as songs by The Shadows, Cliff Richard, The Beatles and Roy Orbison. The band has wowed Farnham audiences at previous Music in the Vineyard events and at Music in the Meadow last summer.
Councillor Jill Hargreaves, Lead Member for Tourism and Events says: “If the chilly weather and gloomy days have made you feel like you need to hibernate, then Music in the Vineyard is just the thing to liven you up and get you out of the house. We have invited Out of the Shadows to be our first act this year because they perform ever-popular songs that will be familiar to all ages. Their shows are very good; you will not be disappointed”
Music in the Vineyard takes place shortly after 2018’s first farmers’ market, also on 28 January. “Shoppers want healthy food this time of year with lots of variety. The farmers’ market is bursting with seasonal fruit and vegetables plus an excellent choice of locally sourced organic meat. You will find everything you need for a hearty winter stew or roast plus all the breads, dairy products and accompaniments that our regulars have come to expect,” says Cllr Hargreaves.
The market takes place in Central Car Park, Farnham, from 10am to 1.30pm. A charity tea tent, run this month by the 1st Farnham Guides will be selling hot and cold drinks, cakes and light refreshments.
The farmers’ market is also organised by Farnham Town Council and forms part of the council’s year-round programme of events that supports the town centre and local residents.
Music in the Vineyard returns on Sunday 25 February with music from Vic Cracknell’s Swing Band and then Sunday 25 March when Farnham Big Band will be performing. Each event includes a charity tea stand which in January is run by Farnham ASSIST. All events are from 3-5pm.
