Summer season concludes

Group of people at Neighbourhood Plan thank you

Farnham’s summer programme of events has come to an end with the last Music in the Meadow of the season.

Over the course of the summer, Farnham Town Council has hosted nearly 20 outdoor events. The 2017 programme has been a great success and, thanks to support from local businesses and sponsorship by Kidd Rapinet solicitors, all events have been held free of charge and enjoyed by thousands of people. In addition, over £4,000 was raised by the 15 local charities invited to host the refreshment tent at each concert.

The last Music in the Meadow concert also served as an opportunity for Farnham Town Council to thank the many people who contributed towards raising awareness about Farnham’s Neighbourhood Plan referendum.

Councillor Carole Cockburn, Leader of Farnham Town Council said: “I was delighted to be able to give my warm and personal thanks to some of the many residents and groups, who supported the campaign to raise awareness of the Neighbourhood Plan referendum in May.

“Every leaflet that was hand-delivered by the residents’ associations, amenity societies and volunteers, made a huge difference and helped to get the town talking about the Neighbourhood Plan. I am in no doubt that this concerted effort by people who care deeply about the future of Farnham, contributed to the 10,000 majority who voted in favour of the Neighbourhood Plan. What an effort! What a town! Cheers, Farnham!”
