Whether you are a gardening enthusiast or simply enjoy the spectacle of a competition, this year’s Farnham Allotment Show on Saturday 22 July, which is free to attend, promises not to disappoint. Taking place at Farnham Maltings from 1.30pm to 5pm, the show is organised by Farnham Town Council and features the search to find the best of the best in allotment produce, as well as a gardeners’ question time.

“The waiting will soon be over for Farnham’s allotment holders as judges get ready to scrutinise not only fruit, vegetables and flowers but also cakes and preserves. I have no doubt that this event will be lots of fun but – make no mistake – our allotment holders will be taking the competition very seriously indeed,” says Councillor Stephen Hill, Lead Member for Community Events. “Do come down to Farnham Maltings on the 22nd. Sponsorship from Forest Lodge Garden Centre means admission to the show is free.”

There will be prizes for the winners of each category which the Mayor of Farnham, Councillor Mike Hodge, will present.

Farnham Town Council provides 262 allotment plots across eight sites in Farnham and surrounding locations. There are opportunities to take part in competitions and social events. The allotment holders also have their own newsletter and website. To register an interest in taking on an allotment or find out more information, contact Farnham Town Council on 01252 712667 or visit www.farnham.gov.uk/services/allotments.
