People of all ages organised and took part in community litter picks during March as part of Farnham Town Council’s Big Pick Week.
Areas such as the Shepherd and Flock roundabout, the Six Bells roundabout, Gostrey Meadow and Dogflud Way were litter picked. The majority of rubbish found was food packaging, cups and bottles.
Councillor Jeremy Ricketts, Lead Member for Farnham in Bloom says: “I am extremely grateful to everybody who took part in the Big Pick Week and made the effort to improve our town. A total of 30 black sacks were filled with litter.
He adds: “I was impressed to see young children from Tootsies Nursery right through to students from Farnham Sixth Form College showing a pride for their local area and picking up litter that has been carelessly discarded by others.”
Anybody who wishes to organise a litter pick can do so at any time of the year. Farnham Town Council is happy to lend litter-picking equipment such as litter picks and gloves and to arrange for the collection of rubbish.
