Farnham Town Council is organising a week of autumn community litter picks and is looking for volunteers to take part.
The Big Pick Week will take place between 15 and 22 October and a town centre community litter pick has been organised for Saturday 22 October from 10am to 12.30pm.
Councillor Stephen Hill, Lead Member for Community Enhancement says: “Our previous litter picks have been great fun and hugely popular. Autumn is a beautiful time of year and a perfect time to get together with friends and neighbours to enjoy some fresh air and make a difference to your neighbourhood or a place you like to visit. We will provide all necessary equipment, including safety gear such as gloves and high visibility jackets and will dispose of any rubbish that is collected. We’ll also provide tea and cakes after the town centre litter pick on Saturday 22 October. All we need is a group of people to spare an hour or two of their time during Big Pick Week.”
Big Pick events are ideal for groups of friends or community groups such as youth clubs, residents’ associations, schoolchildren and church groups to get together to improve an area they care about. Previous Big Pick events have seen groups of people of all ages tidying up areas where they like to walk, schoolchildren picking up litter from town centre parks and groups of neighbours tackling litter in their street.
