The sun has come out and so have Farnham’s music lovers – in their hundreds – for Music in the Meadow.

This year’s Music in the Meadow, a season of free live shows taking place at Farnham’s Gostrey Meadow, has entertained music fans and families alike. Audiences of around 600 people each week have been enjoying live performances by local bands on Sunday afternoons from 3-5pm throughout the summer.

The summer programme features music ranging from jazz to 1960s pop classics, contemporary pop hits, alternative rock and soul. Each Sunday, a different charity hosts the charity tea tent, selling cakes and refreshments.

Councillor Jill Hargreaves, Lead Member for Tourism and Events says: “It has been marvellous to see so many local residents enjoying the music while they picnic in Gostrey Meadow and make the most of the excellent charity tea tent. There is still more to come as Music in the Meadow continues on Sundays until 4 September. I do hope as many local residents as possible come and join us.”

Councillor Hargreaves continues: “Local estate agent Savills has once again very generously sponsored Music in the Meadow. We simply could not put it on without Savills’ sponsorship. I’d also like to thank Waterfords, Tony Fresco and Kidd Rapinet Solicitors who have supported individual concerts.”

On Sunday 28 August, Late to the Party will perform a selection of classic rock as well as adding their own flavour to some pop hits. The summer programme ends on Sunday 4 September with Brass Monkeys, a mature six-piece band performing rock and soul covers.

Earlier in the summer, Vic Cracknell Party Band left an audience of around 700 people wanting more as the crowd joined in for the Van Morrison classic, Brown Eyed Girl. Cancer charity, Marie Curie, raised nearly £700 from its charity tea tent at the show.
