Civic Christmas Carol Service brings festive spirit to Farnham

The sound of voices singing traditional Christmas carols filled St Andrew’s Church, on 4 December 2024, at the twelfth Farnham Civic Christmas Carol Service hosted by the Mayor of Farnham.

The service which is organised by Farnham Town Council included an enchanting performance by the internationally acclaimed Farnham Youth Choir, led by conductor Patrick Barrett and supported by Matthew Rickard on piano and organ.

Throughout the service there were readings from Simon Jamison who represented 40Degreez, Councillor Kika Mirylees from Farnham Town Council, Grace Kay from Farnham Youth Choir and representing the young people of Farnham, the Mayor of Farnham Councillor Brodie Mauluka and Deputy Lieutenant Caroline Breckell MVO.

Councillor Mauluka said: “Coming together to celebrate Christmas as a community made for a very special evening. Music and young people are both very important to me and I am grateful to Farnham Youth Choir for such a wonderful and memorable performance.

“The service which was led by the Reverend David Uffindell reminded us of the sentiments which are at the heart of Christmas: compassion, forgiveness, and community. Hosting this service was an honour and was an opportunity to thank the incredible volunteers who give so much to our community.”

A retiring collection raised £675 and will be divided between the Mayor’s charities which are 40Degreez and Charlie’s Promise.
