Renowned ceramicist Dame Magdalene Odundo DBE will launch a month-long celebration of craft on 1 October.

All are welcome to attend October Craft Month’s opening ceremony which will be held at The James Hockey and Foyer Galleries at UCA from 2-4pm.

To celebrate Farnham’s status as a World Craft Town, Dame Magdalene will give a talk about the town’s long craft heritage, and there will be two specially curated exhibitions celebrating the work of both students and technical staff at UCA. The Crafts Study Centre will also be open to visitors.

The Mayor of Farnham, Councillor Alan Earwaker says: “We would love to see as many people as possible joining us at the launch event and helping us to celebrate craft in Farnham.

“Throughout the whole of October there will be over 100 craft events happening in the town and surrounding areas. Around 40 events are free which helps to make the event accessible to all.”

The programme of events can be found at www.farnhamcrafttown.com, and printed brochures can be picked up from shops and cafes in Farnham and the Town Hall in South Street.
