A new festival which is set to appeal to book lovers and people who share a passion for reading, writing and the spoken word is coming to Farnham this March.

The Farnham Literary Festival is the brainchild of Farnham Town Council and promises to offer a vibrant programme of events for all.

Running from 5 to 13 March, the festival will showcase the work of leading, emerging and historical local authors and will include literary events such as workshops, poetry and writing competitions. The Farnham Fiction Award is one such competition and has attracted some very exciting entries from budding authors. The deadline for entering the competition is 15 January.

Councillor Pat Evans, Lead Member for Tourism and Events says: “The inaugural festival is about so much more than books and will offer cultural nourishment for all. As well as getting some top authors involved there will be opportunities to celebrate local talent too. We are really excited about how the programme is coming together and feel confident that the combination of events and venues will inspire local people to get involved.”
