Win a hamper of local produce at this month’s Farmers’ Market

The Farnham Farmers’ Market is 20 this month and to celebrate this milestone, a prize hamper packed full of goods donated by local producers is up for grabs at the market on Sunday 28 November.

Anybody who visits the market in Central car park can enter the free competition to win the basket of goodies. Shoppers simply need to show that they shopped at two farmers’ market stalls. Full details and an entry form will be given away on the day at Farnham Town Council’s information gazebo.

Councillor Pat Evans, Lead Member for Tourism and Events says: “Over the past 20 years, we have seen the market grow into a popular monthly attraction for people who love to buy fresh, local seasonal produce direct from those that grow it, rear it, make it or bake it. As England’s first World Craft Town, the market is an outlet for local craftspeople to sell their work too.

“It has been interesting to see how stallholders have evolved what they offer to keep up with current trends and ever-changing taste buds. One thing that has stayed the same though is the high quality that shoppers have come to expect and the ‘love local’ theme of the goods sold at the market. I would like to give my appreciation and congratulations to all the producers who attend the market and my thanks to everybody who supports it.”

At the November market, there will live music from local musicians, a charity tea tent hosted by the Farnham Hedgehogs and 45 stalls including two new producers – Brightleigh Farm whose beef comes from their herd of 100% pasture fed Angus and Hereford cattle and The Hampshire Shepherd who produce high quality, high welfare homebred lamb. Shoppers will also see many regular stallholders selling items such as preserves and treats for the festive table and items to pre-order for collection at the market on 12 December.

The market takes place from 10am to 1.30pm. The winner of the hamper will be announced at 1pm.
