Nominate your community hero

Group of people with Mayor front centre.

There is still time to nominate your local hero for a Services to Farnham Award. The awards recognise crucial or outstanding service carried out on a voluntary basis to the Farnham community. Winners meet the Mayor of Farnham at a reception where they also receive a bespoke medal.

The Mayor of Farnham, Councillor Alan Earwaker says: “These awards celebrate the amazing, tireless contributions of local people in supporting the community. Often they are unsung heroes but we want to make sure they receive the recognition they deserve and highlight the extraordinary value of their efforts. If you know someone who you would like to be considered for a Services to Farnham Award, please nominate them by the deadline of 5pm on 6 December.”

To make a nomination, complete the online form on Farnham Town Council’s website setting out the reason for the nomination. Each nomination requires a seconder.

All nominations are considered by a small panel of people which submits its choice of worthy recipients to the Full Council meeting in January. The Mayor of Farnham hosts the awards ceremony in February where he will present each winner with their medal. The awards are sponsored by Sir Ray Tindle of the Tindle News Group.

Last year there were nine recipients of an award, for services as varied as community gardening, providing care for older people, supporting local sports, charitable fundraising and supporting Farnham’s crafting community.
