Farnham Town Council has an afternoon of festive family fun lined up for Farnham’s Christmas lights switch-on at Gostrey Meadow on Saturday 20 November.
Starting at 1pm, there will be non-stop live entertainment by 15 local schools and musical theatre groups.
Pantomime characters from The Harlington Centre at Fleet and the Farnham Maltings will make an appearance and mingle with the crowd for ‘selfies’.
Councillor Pat Evans, Lead Member for Tourism and Events says: “For this year’s Christmas lights switch-on, which is sponsored by Kidd Rapinet and Abbeyfield, we have some new attractions as well as some old-time favourites. There will be a bucking reindeer, a snow globe in which families can have their photo taken, a live nativity, free Santa’s grotto and 25 stalls selling food, drink and gifts.
“The lights will be switched on at approximately 4.30pm by Lee Moran, winner of the 2020/21 Community Hero Award. The event will draw to a close with a performance by one of the UK’s top Abba tribute bands called Abba’s Angels.”
The Christmas lights switch-on marks the start of Christmas in Farnham which is sponsored by Principal sponsor, Farnham Veterinary Hospital. More details about events happening over the festive season can be found at www.farnham.gov.uk.
