Do you know someone who does exceptional work for Farnham’s community or works tirelessly to foster the town’s community spirit? Nominations are open for the prestigious Services to Farnham Awards and Farnham Town Council is asking local people to nominate someone they know who deserves the town’s thanks.
Councillor Mike Hodge, the Mayor of Farnham says: “It’s those members of our community who go the extra mile for Farnham year after year that makes our town the great place that it is. We hold the Services to Farnham Awards each year to recognise individuals’ contributions to the town. If you know someone who provides an outstanding or crucial service for Farnham, please nominate them.
“It’s easy to nominate. Just visit our website and fill in the form. We will need to know your nominee’s details and why you have chosen them. You will also need someone else who knows them to support your nomination,” he says.
The deadline for nominations will be Monday 4 December.
Previous recipients include people who have volunteered for many years, who have tirelessly raised funds for local projects or set up community organisations to help local causes they are passionate about. Winners of the awards have contributed to good causes as diverse as the Opportunities Community Project which helps lone parents return to work, fundraising for Farnham Brass Band and Change of Scene, an organisation that helps local disadvantaged children.
Each award winner is given a medal, kindly sponsored by Sir Ray Tindle of the Tindle News Group, by the Mayor of Farnham at a dedicated ceremony on 26 February.
