Hale Carnival present cheques

Group of people with the Mayor.

Hale Carnival Committee has handed out nearly £5,000 to local good causes at its annual presentation evening on 20 September.

The cheques, totalling £4,800 are from the proceeds of Hale Carnival, which took place in July. Around 20 local good causes and charities have benefitted from the generosity of people attending this popular community event.

The Mayor of Farnham, Councillor Mike Hodge helped Carnival Committee Chairman Martin Winning to present the cheques to the recipients. He said: “As a resident of Upper Hale and ward councillor for Hale and Heath End, Hale Carnival is very close to my heart. I should like to say a big thank you to the Carnival Committee and all the volunteers who work so hard to make Hale Carnival a success: I for one, greatly value their community spirit. On behalf of the Carnival Committee, I would also like to thank Hale and Heath End Working Man’s Club for allowing us to make use of their beautifully refurbished function room.”

Hale Carnival is run by volunteers and is always grateful to receive offers of help. Anybody who is interested in getting involved is invited to attend the AGM at St Mark’s Church, Hale on Tuesday 3 October or to take part in the Bingo and Cocktails fundraising night at Hale Village Hall on Saturday 7 October. For further information, please call Martyn Winning on 01252 722103.

Hale Carnival received a community grant from Farnham Town Council earlier this year, which helped to fund the cost of hiring toilets, rubbish bins and security. Anybody interested in applying for a community grant in 2018/19, should visit www.farnham.gov.uk for more information.
