Farnham in Bloom on film

Judges from Britain in Bloom are arriving on Monday 7 August. Part of their visit includes a snapshot video of what has been happening throughout 2017.

The 7.5-minute video shows an interview with Farnham Specsavers who have sponsored Farnham in Bloom. There is an insight into environmental initiatives such as the work of the River Management Group, the Farnham Repair Café and the Incredible Edible project in Hale.

Children contribute a great deal to Farnham in Bloom and can be seen taking part in the Bloomin’ Kids gardening workshops at Farnham Town Council’s greenhouses. There is also an interview with Atif Rashid who explains why young people from the Tilford-based Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association take part in regular town centre litter picks.

The film ends with footage of the Mayor of Farnham tending to his bees and talking about a bee project by children at St Andrew’s School.

Councillor Stephen Hill, Lead Member for Community Enhancement says: “The judges are with us for a very short time so the video serves as an effective way to show some of the activity that takes place throughout the year for Farnham in Bloom. The video manages to capture the enthusiasm of our many volunteers and the sense of community that Farnham in Bloom engenders.”
