A commemorative flower bed has been planted in Gostrey Meadow to celebrate HM The Queen’s 90th birthday.
A mix of alpines has been planted in the shape of a crown and house leeks have been used to spell out ‘Happy Birthday’. The 3m by 3m bed can be seen near the war memorial.
Councillor Stephen Hill, Lead Member for Farnham in Bloom says: “Every year, as part of Farnham in Bloom we plant up a carpet bed with a relevant theme. There was no doubt in our minds that this year’s bed needed to mark HM The Queen’s 90th birthday. The planting of the carpet bed looks very effective indeed.”
Corporate sponsor Bob Frost from BBS Ltd says: “As a proud sponsor of Farnham in Bloom, I am delighted to see this floral tribute to HM The Queen. I also really like how the red, white and blue theme extends to the containers and hanging baskets along South Street. This year’s planting looks magnificent and the lovely, fragrant petunias are a delight. I would like to say ‘well done’ to the many people who have been involved in this year’s Farnham in Bloom and ‘good luck’ for the judging.”
The judging of the town centre will take place on 7 July and the entry into the Large Town category will be on 21 July. The judging of Britain in Bloom will be on 2 August. Details about the judging route can be seen at www.farnham.gov.uk/bloom.
