Prize-winning pumpkin

Winning pumpkin.

The winner of the Farnham allotments pumpkin competition was announced by Farnham Town Council just in time for Halloween.

Mr Andy Hinchliff, who tends a plot on the Six Bells site, grew the biggest pumpkin across Farnham’s eight allotments. The pumpkin’s circumference measured in at an impressive 136cm.

Councillor Stephen Hill, Lead Member for Community Enhancement says: “Despite the heavy rain in August making it a challenging year for pumpkin growing, our allotment holders have not been put off. We have seen a good selection of pumpkins in various shapes and sizes. While some were grown to make Halloween lanterns, others were grown for making tasty soup and pumpkin pie!”

Anybody who is interested in having an allotment can register their interest.
