From Friday 11 September, 15 specially selected pubs, cafes and restaurants will offer an exclusive three-course menu for just one day during Farnham’s Food Fortnight.
There will be a choice of English, Italian, French and Thai food. Some restaurants will specialise in fish while others will be offering home-cooked dishes made from locally sourced produce. Those taking part represent the variety of international, national and local cuisine that can be found in Farnham.
Councillor Jill Hargreaves, Lead Member for Tourism and Events says: “Food Fortnight is part of Farnham’s Feast of Food and is a very popular event. People get the chance to eat in places they’ve perhaps previously never thought about visiting and our wonderful pubs and restaurants are able to showcase what it is that makes them special.”
She adds: “This year will see more non-food businesses involved. Throughout the fortnight the Halifax will be collecting for the local foodbank; Blue Cross will be inviting in pets to sample special food and treats and Specsavers Farnham who are the principal sponsor of Feast of Food, will be giving away free eye tests.”
Other local businesses that have signed up to get involved on one of the days during the fortnight include Sharps bedrooms who will be offering tea and cake and Lizard Menswear who will be serving cocktails. In addition to hats, Beverley Edmondson Millinery will be offering a fantastic selection of cakes from Forever Cakes and Squire’s Kitchen Shop will have a book signing and demonstration. Later in the fortnight Squire’s Kitchen School will open its doors for a show round and a chance to see a class in action.
