Farnham’s free annual Food Festival will take place on Saturday 26 September.
Castle Street will be closed to traffic and transformed into a vibrant, bustling market place. Live music will entertain shoppers as they browse among the 80 stalls selling quality food items that can be bought to enjoy at home or given as a present. A number of stallholders will be cooking and serving fresh food which will include curry, paella, noodles, Thai food, baguettes and crepes.
Councillor Jill Hargreaves, Lead Member for Tourism and Events says: “Farnham’s fortnight long Feast of Food, which has been supported by principal sponsor Specsavers, is shaping up to be one of the best yet. Fifteen pubs and restaurants have been serving menus designed especially for the Food Fortnight and on Saturday we will be hosting the ever-popular Food Festival.
“Throughout the day, eight local chefs will showcase their expertise during live food demonstrations. The audience will be shown some tricks of the trade for making gourmet marshmallows, traditional Italian pizza and original ideas for using seasonal autumnal vegetables. The chef from The Wheatsheaf, which is a silver sponsor of the one-day Food Festival, will be showing how to make a hearty autumnal dish with seared haunch of Sussex venison. Councillors and members of Farnham Town Council will be looking after the information tent so if you have any questions please do come and see us.”
