Farnham Town Council has presented a community grant to Farnham Brass Band to help them in their quest to get more people playing a brass instrument.
The cheque for £1,000 was presented by the Mayor of Farnham, Cllr Mrs Pat Frost and will be used to buy a three quarter size tuba.
Cllr Mrs Pat Frost says: “We are very pleased to be able to support Farnham Brass Band. In September last year, Jon Riches joined the band as the new training band leader. Jon is a professional player in his own right and is doing a fantastic job at encouraging people to get involved in playing great music in and around Farnham.”
The training band meets on a Monday at the Tilford Institute from 6.45pm to 7.30pm. The training band is suitable for anybody interested in learning a brass instrument and players that have not played for a while. For more information contact the Band at farnhambrassband@gmail.com.
