A local councillor, whose political life began more than 30 years ago, has been elected as the new Mayor of Farnham.
Councillor Mrs Pat Frost has lived in Farnham for 40 years and represents residents of Wrecclesham and Rowledge. She was proposed by Councillor Jill Hargreaves who described her as a ‘highly respected local figure whose knowledge of the town and its residents is second to none’.
Councillor Frost plays a very active part in the local community and is the only Farnham member to be a town, borough and county councillor. Cllr Frost and her husband Bob are directors of Farnham-based BBS Ltd which has been an authorised supplier of Magimix spares for over 20 years.
In her acceptance speech, Councillor Mrs Pat Frost described her passion for Farnham’s towns and villages and promised to do all in her power to ensure ‘prosperity and vibrancy’. She also praised the residents who live in Farnham and described them as ‘people who care’.
Councillor Frost highlighted some of the challenges facing Farnham which include numerous planning applications for development and the ongoing issue with traffic congestion.
She said: “We will continue to make this town a pleasure to live in – it is already in the national top ten towns in which to live. This year we celebrate 25 years of Farnham in Bloom and you, our residents, tell us how much you value this.”
The Mayor also spoke about how she is looking forward to getting out and about and meeting people who live in the town and the villages.
During her Mayoral year, Councillor Mrs Pat Frost has chosen to support Farnham Assist, which is a charity that runs clubs and social events for older people.
The Mayor of Farnham will be supported by Councillor John Ward who has been elected as the Deputy Mayor of Farnham.
