Light up Farnham’s villages

White lights on tree.

Farnham’s villages have an opportunity to sparkle this Christmas with an extension of Farnham Town Council’s Christmas lights scheme.

Local community groups and organisations are once again being invited to nominate a tree that would lend itself to being illuminated with festive lights. Last year, two trees at Hale, one at The Bourne and one in Rowledge were decorated.

To be considered, the tree will need to be a focal point for the community and the tree owner will need to give their consent for the tree to be decorated, particularly as it is hoped the lights will remain in the tree for around three years. A nearby and safe electricity supply will also be required.

Councillor Jill Hargreaves, Lead Member for Tourism and Events says: “Last year’s community Christmas trees in Hale, Rowledge and The Bourne looked lovely. This Christmas, we would really like to be able to decorate a couple more trees in other areas. The lighting is very tasteful and the trees make a perfect centre piece for the focus of community festive celebrations.”

Any local group interested in having a tree decorated with lights should contact Alan Corcoran or call 01252 712667.
