The last Music in the Meadow concert for 2014 took place in Gostrey Meadow on Sunday.
Farnham Big Band performed a variety of favourite tunes to a crowd of several hundred people. The weather was fine and warm marking a glorious end to the summer season of concerts.
Cllr Jill Hargreaves says: “I have so enjoyed this year’s Music in the Meadow. Year on year, the concerts appear to be growing in popularity with more than 5,000 people attending in 2014. This year, we have heard from many more younger musicians, which has proved popular with the audiences.”
During the concert, the winner of the competition to name the cat that looks out the window of the electricity sub-station opposite the playground was announced. The winning name is Sparky and was chosen for its appropriateness for the building. Birdworld has kindly donated a family ticket to the winner.
Plans will soon begin for next year’s Music in the Meadow programme. Any local musician that would like to take part should email Farnham Town Council.
