Free summer music in Farnham

Preparations are well underway for the start of the Music in the Meadow season sponsored by Savills Farnham, with the first concert taking place on 1 June.

The concerts, which are organised by Farnham Town Council, are sponsored by local businesses that wish to support a local event attended by residents from Farnham and surrounding villages as well as visitors from further afield.

Councillor Jill Hargreaves, Lead Member for Tourism and Events says: “Last year, over 6,000 people were estimated to have attended and enjoyed the Music in the Meadow concerts. This year, we are delighted to welcome Savills estate agents as our main sponsor of the Music in the Meadow programme.

“We still have one or two opportunities left for businesses that wish to sponsor a single concert. The concerts are a great way for businesses to raise their profile or to mark a special occasion such as an anniversary or birthday. Music in the Meadow concerts are lovely family occasions and also raise money for local charities. Personally, I am very much looking forward to spending a few Sunday afternoons on Gostrey Meadow listening to live music.”

Including Picnic in the Park, a total of 15 concerts will be held over the summer. Many great bands have been confirmed. The line up will include acoustic folk blues, jazz, rock and brass bands. As well as original numbers, bands will perform music from the 60s through to modern chart toppers, the musicals, swing, jump and jive.
